| I believe there is nothing more important than building your self-esteem. This sense of well being has a tendency to automatically draw positive people and circumstances into your life, and hold off negative people and conditions. Self-esteem is like an invisible wall of protection that surrounds you at all times. The best part of having a high level of self-esteem is that you will automatically begin to build the self-esteem of those around you. This will make you a person. In fact, there is no area of life that you won't dramatically improve. Self-esteem is so powerful that whatever the method you use to build your sense of well being will become an addiction. If you gain your self-esteem from an internal source, you will be blessed with an incredible and exciting lifestyle. Examples of self-esteem activities that are positive: working out, internal goal setting, prayer and meditation. There are three principles that underlie self-esteem. What is so powerful about them is that they are exactly the same irrespective of age or stage in life. | ||||

Principles are guidelines you use to decide how you will think, act and live. Your principles say a lot about who you are. The Martial Arts are full of them! | ||||

| Principle #1: Set and achieve small goals.
These goals must be totally within your Control. In the same way if I say, "My goal is to win at the Martial Arts' tournament." I've taken my personal power and put it in the hand of judges, competitors, and scorekeepers. Instead a better goal would be, "I'm going to train in the Martial Arts three hours every week." Again, if you keep this commitment (one that is your complete control), you will grow as a person! Principle #2: Never Criticize. When you criticize, you will get immediate burst of negative esteem. Criticism is destructive. |
Principle #3: Always do your best.
It is the one principle that holds everything together. You can't always control your outcomes, but you can always control whether you tried your best. If you set a goal to do your best, how can you ever fail? If you never fail, you will learn to depend on yourself and your self-esteem will grow. These three simple ideas can change your life forever! ![]() |

| Remember these safety rules and you can not only protect yourself but have fun too. 1. Don't accept rides from someone you don't know. 2. Know your telephone number and the telephone number of a close friend by heart. 3. Do not take money, toys, candy or other gifts from anyone. Ask your parents first. 4. Say, "This is not my parent" loudly when touched by someone in ways you don't like or feel funny about. Then run and tell your parents. 5. Don't talk to people you don't know. |
6. Don't answer the door when you are home alone. 7. When you get lost in a store, find a clerk and ask for help. Do not walk out of the store. 8. Always tell your parents whom you are playing with and where you are playing at. 9. Walk to and from school with friends and go straight to where you are going. 10. Don't keep secrets from your parents, even when you are afraid to tell them. 11. When you are home by yourself and answer the telephone, never say that you are home alone. Say, "my mum can't come to the phone right now, she'll call you right back." Try and get a name and telephone number. |

From the team at Fresh, here are some practical tips to ensure your kids stay on the healthy eating track.
*SMALL MEALS ARE BEST
Growing bodies thrive on three small meals a day with healthy snacks in between.
*INVOLVEMENT = INTEREST
If children help in the preparation of a meal, they're more likely to be interested in eating it.
*DON'T BRIBE
Teach children to enjoy the benefits of good food rather than bribing them with the reward of an unhealthy treat.
*CONSISTENCY
Kids thrive on routine. Serve them meals they like, with some variation, a few times a week.
*LEAD BY EXAMPLE
Always look like you are enjoying the meal and don't make negative comments about food you dislike.
*DRINK LESS AT DINNER
Don't fill kids up on fluids- juice, milk or even water just before a meal.
*SUBSTITUTE
For every food your child hates there will be a substitute within its food group. e.g. If they won't eat meat, try fish or baked beans.
Dietary Guidelines for Adults in Australia
Enjoy a wide variety of nutritious foods
Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits & legumes (alfalfa, peas, beans, lentils and peanuts)
Eat plenty of cereals (including breads, rice, pasta and noodles), preferably wholegrain
Include lean meat, fish, poultry and/or other alternatives.
Include milks, yoghurts, cheeses and/or alternatives. Reduced-fat varieties should be chosen, where possible
Drink plenty of water.
And take care to:
Limit saturated fat and moderate total fat intake
Choose foods low in salt Limit your alcohol intake if you choose to drink
Consume only moderate amounts of sugars and foods containing added sugars.
